Diversity Equity and Inclusion Strategy

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) releases the Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategy, which aims to cultivate and maintain diversity, equity and inclusion environment to enhance innovation and creativity.

As an important part of the European financial regulatory system, ESMA’s work goal is to strengthen investor protection, promote the orderly development of financial markets and maintain financial stability. ESMA has recognized the importance of talent in development in its overall strategy and plans to strengthen its human resources strategy and cultivate a diverse, equitable and inclusive work culture.

Contents of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Strategy

ESMA has developed strategic goals for diversity, equity and inclusion, including:

  • Model a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where every employee can grow and develop at work.
  • Ensure employee conduct does not harm colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Increase organizational diversity and recommend organizational responsibilities regarding DEI.
  • Foster a sense of belonging among employees and create a safe and supportive work environment.

To achieve the above goals, ESMA will focus on the following four priorities:

  • Raise employee awareness: ESMA will ensure that all employees (including interns) understand the importance of DEI.
  • Develop measurement tools: ESMA will develop tools to measure the development of DEI.
  • Improve the recruitment process: ESMA will improve the recruitment process to make it consistent with DEI principles and values.
  • Integrate DEI into work planning: ESMA will consider incorporating DEI into all policies and procedures.

ESMA plans to formulate a detailed DEI action plan in the future and management, human resources departments, and employees will all be included in the plan.
