ECB and ESG Regulations

European Central Bank is an important market participant in European ESG regulations, but primarily responsible for central bank functions. European regulators also include European Banking Authority (banking sector), European Securities and Markets Authority (asset management sector) and European Insurance and Pensions Authority (insurance sector).

European Central Bank has developed a climate and nature plan that incorporates material ESG factors into monetary policy. ECB is also pushing for decarbonization of its investment portfolio by selecting assets with lower carbon emissions based on a tilted framework.
